The song told us we need a hero, but for me I prefer a heroin like Joan who could keep those nasty English at bay.

This little work uses a deft line and attempts to summarise the bond between mother and child in a few strokes. The composition frames the figure and acts like a cushion from the outside world, making the scene more intimate and personal.

This miniature work evokes a certain ambiguity which I am rather partial to. The cloaked figure is perhaps one we wouldn't want to meet on a dark night but would nevertheless find intriguing to learn more about.
